Does God hate fangs?

In the world of True Blood, vampires are seen by most Christians as very unholy creatures while there is plenty of proof otherwise.

Sookie: So, what about holy water?
Bill: It's just water.
Sookie: Crucifixes?
Bill: Geometry.
-season 1

You could take a quote like this in one of many ways: either there is no God and therefore these symbols render useless, there is a God but these things are just symbols. The way I see it, the latter is the true meaning of it in this show.

God is supposed to have created everything, and vampires are simply people that have evolved, sort of. They became what they are in most cases by no fault of their own, much like contracting an illness. So how could God hate them? If God made the whole world, didn't he make evil too? This seems to be the way Sookie and Gran view things.

Bill Compton has a fairly clear moral compass. Like all vampires, and humans, he makes choices. Sometimes he makes mistakes, but ultimately he is a good character. He chooses to drink true blood, a synthetic blood-like beverage made for vampires as a sort of meal supplement, instead of killing and feeding off humans. He wishes to coexist with regular people peacefully, and it seems that many other vampires do too. He is proof that this is possible and that vampires have a choice and the ability to be good.

That said, it is understandble for people to fear vampires, as even Bill admits that new vampires are dangerous and difficult to control. He does manage to control a newly made vampire, Jessica, who then falls in love with a human, Hoyt. This is proof that things CAN work between vampires and humans.

People are presented in an equally negative light in the show. Vampire-hating humans have killed more people on the show than vampires themselves. Rene Lenier killed a handful of women for having relationships with vampires, and the Fellowship of the Sun was more than pleased by this.

To me, the message here is that everything has free will, and that the important thing is not what you are but how you use your free will. Will you use what God has supposedly given you for love, or for hate?
